Running for me isn't about getting fit. It isn't about looking good. It's about pushing myself to the limit. When my body hurts all over, it's about my will to go on being the only thing that keeps me going.
I started running in 10th grade. At that time, it was something that I did to take my mind off of studies. It worked beautifully. So I continued regular running all through high school. During that time, I joined running communities online and made friends with other runners. Running gradually became an integral part of my life. It still very much is, and I still enjoy every run i do.
I ran my first 10k in my first year of college and then my first half marathon immediately after. Since then, I've ran 3 more 10ks and 3 more half marathons a well. The marathons have taken me to many amazing places all over south India. I'm still looking for the right time and place to do my first full marathon!
No doubt that running keeps me physically fit. But what I find truly rewarding about it is the mental rejuvenation that happens after a long gruelling run. It's such an inexplicable feeling that people have termed it the 'runners high'. Something to do with an increase in endorphins in the body. Ill take it!
Physical fitness + Mental fitness + Amazing people + Amazing places, makes running easily one of my favourite things to do!
Here's the link to my Endomondo page. It's where I store most of the runs that I do (All the ones that I remember to turn on my GPS for!)
